An Event To Remember, LLC is 5 years old

Wow, 5 years ago on January 10th An Event to Remember, LLC did our first wedding here in Huntsville.  Allison Kirkland Latham was our first bride and what a pleasure she was to work with.  Carol Cooper Carroll and I planned that first wedding together and we did such a great job that I decided to go ahead and launch the business.  Here I am 5 years later still going and each year my brides and their weddings get more and more fabulous.  I must give God the glory for the growth of my business.  I was telling another coordinator this evening what an honor it is to have the privilege of helping to plan the most important day of a couples life.  I want to thank all of the assistants I have had along the way, and my friends and family for their continuous support.  Thank you so much to all of the great vendors I have worked with through the years, and a very special thanks to all of the photographers who have shared pictures with me from all of my weddings.  Here are some pictures from the last five years.

Sherri and Chuck Smith

I had the pleasure this past November of coordinating the wedding of Sherri Graves and Chuck Smith.  This was an absolutely awesome couple and I was so honored to work with them.  Planning their wedding was definitely an experience where we did a lot of out of the box thinking as this wedding was going to be a celebration for all of their friends and family members.  Sherri had been battling cancer since November of 2007 and the original plan was that on her wedding day she would be celebrating being chemo free.  Sherri's Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th anniversary at the wedding reception and we also celebrated Sherri's grand mothers 100th birthday at the reception as well.  As you can see this family had so much to celebrate.  Even though the weather took a turn on us, and Sherri and Chuck's outdoor ceremony had to move to the cold weather tent plan, this was the most beautiful day.  It is my pleasure to share pictures with you.  Photography was done by Liss Sterling photography and they did a fabulous job as they always do.

 

     

 

 

 

He Asked, You Said Yes. Now What? "B"

When it comes to wedding planning the letter "B" stands for so many things.  I feel at the beginning stage of the planning process, Bridal Shows is what is probably most important.  This past weekend in Huntsville we had three bridal shows and I must say my feet were hurting on Monday.  I think the bridal show is so important to the newly engaged bride to be because this is such a great opportunity for you to meet face to face with prospective vendors as well as sample their products.  No other time throughout the planning process will you be able to go into one location and sample cake, food, look at flowers, albums, and pick up samples and demos from so many vendors. 

Ok, so you ask how do I really get the most out of the bridal show experience?  I have a few suggestions to help decipher through the bag full of goodies that you will pick up.

1.  Tackle a bridal show the same way you would a job search.  After all you are looking to hire someone to take care of your wedding needs.  Talk to vendors, get a feel for their personality, ask questions, sample what they have to offer.  Take a notebook with you and make notes so that when you get home you remember important points about the vendors you were interested in.

2.  Go through the bag of goodies when you get home and see what it is you picked up.  Keep in mind some vendors offer bridal show specials and you might need to make some phone calls on Monday morning.

3.  Research vendors that you are interested in there are several vendor review sites available such as weddingwire.com and marthastewartweddings.com where you can go and get reviews from brides on potential vendors.

4.  Don't always go for the least expensive.  There is truly something to be said about "you get what you pay for."

5.  Make follow up phone calls and schedule appointments the week after the show.
